curves with rational subgroups of order three

چکیده
In this article we present a characterization of elliptic curves defined over a finite field F q which possess a rational subgroup of order three. There are two posible cases depending on the rationality of the points in these groups. We show that for finite fields F q , q ≡ −1 mod 3, all ellip-tic curves with a point of order 3, they have another rational subgroup whose points are not defined over the finite field. If q ≡ −1 mod 3, this is no true; but there exits a one to one correspondence between curves with points of order 3 and curves with rational subgroups whose points are not rational.

متن کاملTorsion Subgroups of Elliptic Curves in Short Weierstrass Form
In a recent paper by M. Wieczorek, a claim is made regarding the possible rational torsion subgroups of elliptic curves E/Q in short Weierstrass form, subject to certain inequalities for their coefficients. We provide a series of counterexamples to this claim and explore a number of related results. In particular, we show that, for any ε > 0, all but finitely many curves EA,B : y 2 = x +Ax+B, w...
متن کاملOn rational groups with Sylow 2-subgroups of nilpotency class at most 2
A finite group $G$ is called rational if all its irreducible complex characters are rational valued. In this paper we discuss about rational groups with Sylow 2-subgroups of nilpotency class at most 2 by imposing the solvability and nonsolvability assumption on $G$ and also via nilpotency and nonnilpotency assumption of $G$.
متن کاملExplicit Classification for Torsion Subgroups of Rational Points of Elliptic Curves
The classification of elliptic curves E over the rationals Q is studied according to their torsion subgroups Etors(Q) of rational points. Explicit criteria for the classification are given when Etors(Q) are cyclic groups with even orders. The generator points P of Etors(Q) are also explicitly presented in each case. These results, together with recent results of K. Ono, completely solve the pro...
متن کاملLarge Torsion Subgroups of Split Jacobians of Curves of Genus Two or Three
We construct examples of families of curves of genus 2 or 3 over Q whose Jacobians split completely and have various large rational torsion subgroups. For example, the rational points on a certain elliptic surface over P of positive rank parameterize a family of genus-2 curves over Q whose Jacobians each have 128 rational torsion points. Also, we find the genus-3 curve 15625(X + Y 4 + Z)− 96914...
